ABOUT YOGA MOVE DANCE

Yoga Move Dance

I'm Jane Woolley, dancer, yoga teacher and founder of Yoga Move Dance. The company was borne out of a long career in dance and a love of practising and teaching yoga, combined with my desire to explore the physical and mental benefits of movement.

The knowledge and skills I have gained from 20 years of professional practice and teaching allows me to provide attentive and personalised tuition. My bespoke approach is founded on extensive post graduate study of somatic practices focusing on the connection between the body, the breath and the mind.

Yoga Move Dance offers a route to a more physically and mentally connected life through creative dance and yoga classes in a range of educational, health, corporate and community settings.

Classes and workshops combine a knowledgable professional approach with creative and fun elements. My teaching is natural and relaxed and students leave feeling energised, inspired and part of a supportive community. I receive overwhelming feedback that students not only enjoy their class but understand how they can take their learning into their everyday life.

About Jane Woolley

As a child I was always moving – through dance or playing sport. In my twenties, I studied at London’s prestigious dance conservatoires, Trinity Laban and London School of Contemporary Dance (MA). Throughout my career I have strived to work with the UK’s leading professional dance companies and top academic institutions. This has allowed me to develop in depth knowledge and a reflective practice in the areas of dance pedagogy, improvisation and choreography, somatic practices and anatomy.

I initially practised yoga to complement my dance training. Following the birth of my 3 children, it helped me rehabilitate my body back to fitness and cope with life as a busy working mum.  Yoga has profoundly transformed my life and after 20 years of practice, I trained as a yoga teacher at the acclaimed Life Centre London. My 18month diploma focused on the science of yoga, asana sequencing, yoga philosophy, pranayama and meditation using an authentic and non-dogmatic approach. This allowed me to develop my own unique approach to teaching which has since been supplemented by further study with the world's leading teachers Donna Farhi and Doug Keller.

When I'm not teaching I love to spend time with family and friends walking my dog in Richmond Park. As an escape from London I love to travel and explore the great outdoors. I lead small yoga retreats in Ibiza and love to visit the surf beaches of Cornwall, Portugal and Costa Rica where I might even try and catch a wave!
